Daniel Negreanu Matching Donations to St Jude Children’s Hospital

Daniel Negreanu, two-time WPT titlist and 4-time WSOP bracelet winner, has declared via his Twitter account – @RealKidPoker ““ that he wants to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Not only that, he wants to inspire others to join him in his worthy cause. To stimulate donations from others, Negreanu has proclaimed that he will match donations, dollar for dollar, made through his personal fundraising page.

On February 9, 2013, Negreanu posted the following Tweet:

“Who is going to be the first person to donate on my fundraising page for St.Judes? I’m matching donations! https://t.co/cDPwW2W4”?

According to the Daniel Negreanu Fundraising Page, the Canadian poker pro’s ultimate goal is to raise $100,000. He has promised to match all donations that transpire through his page until that goal is reached (up to a maximum of $50,000 in cumulative donations), or until the “end of the week”? (presumably February 16, 2013), whichever comes first.

To further inspire the opening of pocketbooks, Negreanu is offering an evening of fun-filled adventure, and of course some intriguing poker tutorials, in Las Vegas. Daniel has proclaimed that for every donation that meets or exceeds $2,500, he will randomly select 4 supporters to join him in the soiree.

In his own words, “For every donation of $2,500+, 4 of you will be chosen randomly to attend a dinner with me in Las Vegas, followed by a poker lesson/fun evening at my newly renovated home on March 29th!”?

To make a donation, you can visit Negreanu’s personal fundraising page and click on the button labeled “Donate Now”?. St Jude’s mission is to research and find cures that will save the lives of children all over the world. All donations are used to assist both researchers and doctors at St Jude to discover and implement new treatments towards the curing of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Negreanu invites all visitors to the website to “check back often and see my progress.”? As of right now, 12 noon ET, February 13, 2013, Daniel’s goal is on the verge of reaching its target. The total donations, including Negreanu’s dollar-for-dollar match, is at $95,676.23.

There are currently at least nine donations of $2,500+, and possibly more from the multitude of anonymous amounts deposited. The highest donations recorded have come from Phil Ivey, with $10,000, and Daniel Shak, who proffered the largest amount of $25,000. Between these two fellow poker pros alone, 70% of Daniel’s goal has already been achieved.
