New York State makes a bid to legalize online gambling – weekly news!

Senator Joseph Addabbo has recently put forward a bill to legalize online gambling within the state. With a view to opening up bets on games like online Poker, slots, table games and live dealer games too. This is great weekly news.
Currently New York residents need to travel to states where online gambling is legalized, or risk playing illegally. Neither of which is an ideal option for optimal game play. More than satisfying the needs of players however, legalizing gambling would result in significant benefits for the state as well, which cannot be overlooked.
With a proposed tax revenue of 35.5% on online gambling set by the bill…
“New York State would receive approximately $475m annually in state tax revenue based upon conservative market estimates. In addition, in the first year of operation. New York would receive approximately $150m in one-time licence fees from casinos, operators and independent contractors seeking to conduct online interactive casino gaming.”
In addition to legalizing online gambling, the bill also seeks to support responsible gambling too. Proposing to set aside $11 million for awareness and treatment. Over and above this, players who deposit $2,500 at one time will be contacted about their gambling behaviour. And credit card payments will be limited to $2,500 per year.
