Joker Poker is a spin-off of the traditional 5-card draw poker game, using a deck of 53 cards instead of 52. The extra card is, of course, the Joker. The Joker is a wild card that can become any card needed to produce the best possible, highest paying, poker hand.

There is only one joker, thus the chances of getting this card isn’t extremely high. However, since this is the souped-up Power Poker version of Joker Poker, you will be playing anywhere from 4 to 100 hands per game, greatly increasing the overall chance of receiving a Joker in one or more hands. Keep in mind that you will need to insert 1 to 5 coins for each hand played, thus it can be rather expensive to play, and is best suited for serious lovers of video poker games.

The following guide reflects the gameplay and pay table of Joker Poker Power Poker at Microgaming online casinos. The player actions and pay table at any other live or online casino may vary. Also note that Microgaming developed video poker games all come with an optional Double feature, wherein a player can choose whether to play a side game of high-low to double their winnings any time they achieve a payout.

Let’s take a look at the basic screen options of 4-Handed Joker Poker Power Poker. To play this game with more than 4 (up to 100) hands, simply multiply the digits below accordingly.

How to Play Joker Poker Power Poker

Start by selecting a coin size using the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the screen. Then you will insert 1 to 5 coins per hand by pressing the Bet One button as many times as needed. If you click it more times than you meant to, just keep clicking past 5 and it will reset to 1. If you wish to bet the maximum 5 coins, simply press Bet Max and the hand will begin automatically. Otherwise, click Deal to deal the cards.

Four hands are displayed on the screen. Using the bottom hand, click on any card to change its status from HELD to un-held. Every card marked HELD will be kept, others will be discarded.

Click Deal to receive replacement cards for all discards. All four hands will keep the same cards you chose to hold, while all other cards are replaced. Each hand could now contain the same or different cards because each hand is dealt from its own randomly shuffled 53-card deck. Any hand that produces a Pair of Kings or better will be paid according to the pay table. All other hand bets will be lost.

If any hand produces a payout, you are given the option to play the Double feature. This allows the player to participate in a quick high-low game for double-or-nothing. To play, click Double. To pass and keep your winnings, click Collect.

Joker Poker Power Poker Double Feature

If you choose to play the Double feature, 5 more cards are dealt. The first card is exposed, but the others are not. You will need to click any one of the face-down cards. If your chosen card is higher in rank than the first card, you win double your initial winnings. If not, the original winnings are lost and the game goes back to Joker Poker Power Poker mode.

If you win the Double feature, you can choose to play another Double, or click Collect to keep the winnings.
