3 of a Kind

A poker hand with 3 cards of the same value

In gambling, particularly in games like poker, "3 of a Kind" refers to a hand that contains three cards of the same rank, along with two other cards that are of different ranks and not of the same suit as the three matching cards. For example, if a player has three 7s and two other cards, such as a 10 and a King, they have a "3 of a Kind" hand. This hand ranks above a "Two Pair" but below a "Straight" in most poker hand rankings. The strength of a "3 of a Kind" is determined primarily by the rank of the three cards, with higher ranks being more favorable.
