Blinds

In poker, a forced bet made at the beginning of every hand before the cards are dealt.

In poker, particularly in games like Texas Hold'em and Omaha, "blinds" refer to forced bets that are made by players before any cards are dealt. The purpose of blinds is to create an initial pot and encourage action in the game.

There are typically two types of blinds:

  1. Small Blind (SB): This is the smaller of the two forced bets and is placed by the player immediately to the left of the dealer button.

  2. Big Blind (BB): This is the larger forced bet and is placed by the player to the left of the small blind. The big blind is usually double the amount of the small blind.

Players who are not in the blinds must match the big blind to stay in the hand, and they have the option to raise or fold. The blinds rotate around the table with each hand, ensuring that all players take turns contributing to the pot.
