Call

1 min read

In poker, to call is to match the current bet.

In the context of gambling, particularly in poker, the term "call" refers to the action of matching a bet made by another player. When a player calls, they are choosing to continue in the hand by putting in the same amount of chips or money that the other player has wagered, rather than folding (which means to forfeit their hand) or raising (which means to increase the bet). Calling indicates that the player believes they have a competitive hand or wants to see the next card or the outcome of the round without increasing the stakes.
