In gambling, particularly in poker, the term "fold" refers to the action taken by a player when they decide to forfeit their hand and any chance of winning the pot. This typically occurs when a player believes their hand is not strong enough to compete against the potential hands of other players or when they do not want to risk further betting. By folding, the player discards their cards and is no longer involved in the current round of betting, losing any bets they have already made for that round. Folding is a strategic decision and is an essential part of poker gameplay.
