Rake

1 min read

In poker, the money that the casino charges, usually as a percentage of each pot.

In casino gambling, particularly in poker, "rake" refers to the commission or fee that the house (casino or poker room) takes from the pot during a cash game or from the buy-in of a tournament. The rake is usually a small percentage of the pot, capped at a certain amount, and it is how the casino generates revenue from poker games. For example, if a pot is $100 and the rake is 5%, the casino would take $5 from the pot, leaving $95 for the players. In tournaments, the rake is often included in the entry fee, with a portion going to the prize pool and the rest going to the house.
