Soft Hand

1 min read

In blackjack, any hand that contains an ace counted as eleven is called a soft hand.

In blackjack, a "soft hand" refers to a hand that contains an Ace counted as 11 points. This is because the Ace can be counted as either 1 or 11, depending on what is more advantageous for the player. For example, if a player has an Ace and a 6, the total value of the hand is either 7 (counting the Ace as 1) or 17 (counting the Ace as 11). Soft hands are considered advantageous because they provide more flexibility in terms of hitting or standing without the risk of busting (going over 21) if the player draws another card.
