Table Stakes

In poker, stakes in which the betting and raising is limited to the amount of money a player has on the table in front of him.

"Table stakes" is a term used in gambling, particularly in poker, to refer to a rule that limits the amount of money a player can use to bet during a hand. Under table stakes rules, a player can only bet the amount of money they have in front of them at the start of the hand; they cannot reach into their pocket or add more money to the table during that hand. This means that players are only risking the chips they have on the table at the time the betting begins, ensuring that all players are on an equal footing regarding the amount they can wager in a single hand. This rule helps to maintain fairness and prevents players from continually adding funds to gain an advantage.
