Twenty-One or 21
Alternative term for “Blackjack.”
"Twenty-One" or "21" refers to a popular card game known as Blackjack. In this game, the objective is to beat the dealer by having a hand value that is closer to 21 than the dealer's hand without exceeding 21.
The game is typically played with one or more decks of standard playing cards. Each card has a specific value:
- Number cards (2-10) are worth their face value.
- Face cards (Kings, Queens, and Jacks) are worth 10 points.
- Aces can be worth either 1 or 11 points, depending on which value benefits the hand more.
Players are dealt two cards and can choose to "hit" (take another card) or "stand" (keep their current hand). If a player's hand exceeds 21, they "bust" and lose the round. The game also includes options for doubling down, splitting pairs, and insurance bets, adding to its strategic depth.
Blackjack is widely played in casinos and is known for its blend of skill and chance.
