Joining the crusade towards responsible gambling, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has plans in place to launch a new app before the end of 2026. One designed to help players easily identify legal online casinos.
For players, knowing whether they’re visiting a legal casino can be an important part of staying safe online. Licensed operators follow regulations and player protection measures. Unregulated platforms offer players far fewer safeguards when something goes wrong.
Making Legal Casino Play Easier to Identify
Announced by PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco during a meeting on 24 August of this year, the app is set to divert players away from illegal gaming sites in the Philippines. A move that can’t come soon enough, given that approximately 50% of sites currently accessed in the country are illegal.
PAGCOR Takes Aim at Illegal Gambling Sites
“The PAGCOR app has two main objectives,” Tengco explains, “first, to curb illegal online gambling and second, to protect players by ensuring that they play only on platforms licensed and regulated by PAGCOR.”
That means the new app could give players a much simpler way to check where they’re playing before handing over personal information or making a deposit. Rather than leaving players to determine whether a site is legitimate on their own, PAGCOR’s initiative aims to make licensed options easier to identify.
While detailed information about the app remains limited, its planned launch is encouraging. Yet another step in the right direction towards legal, responsible gambling around the world.
